On 4 June 2014, the Alliance in Support of Patriotic Movements in China organised the biggest candle-light vigil in Hong Kong's Victoria Park since 1990 to Commemorate the 25th Anniversary of June 4 military crackdown of Tiananmen Square pro-democracy protesters and to mourn the people in Beijing killed by the People's Liberation Army. I watched the live webcast of the whole vigil from my New Zealand home via the Apple Daily as if I were also among the many people there...a really unforgettable experience, particularly to watch the video talks by eight exiled protest leaders and intellectuals after 25 years of having been away from the Tiananmen Square near where the brutal crackdown of the unarmed protesters took place. To me, the most impressive was the emotional speech by Teng Biao (滕彪), a mainland civil rights lawyer, currently a visiting scholar at CUHK, who said: "...I hope one day Chinese citizens will have the freedom of protest, which is a right protected by the Chinese constitution, as well as a basic human right..."(SCMP, 5 June 2014)

Two good friends of mine e-mailed me some photos with a message from one friend: "...photos of the vigil for you. A huge turn-up this evening, more than 180 thousands. Record high. I was among the big crowd. Couldn't move around to take photos. Here are some from my camera. Hope that they are still useful." The other friend said: "...just back home, 1:30am HKtime, there is a march after the gathering; photo later..."

2014年6月4日晚上﹐香港支聯會在維多利亞公園舉辦了“六四”二十四周年悼念燭光晚會,有超過十八萬人參加...香港的好朋友用電郵給我寄來了一些照片...
